I started my first little service business in 1980. I remember how much I loved my work and how much I adored my customers. What I didn’t love was the back office work! I would procrastinate until I was absolutely overwhelmed. I knew I needed help but when I reached out to local bookkeepers, I always felt inadequate. My organization, record keeping, and approach to staying compliant seemed to fall short. Starting a business is scary and exhausting and what I really needed was some TLC and an occasional cheerleader. Why couldn’t these professionals see that what I needed was education and insight? I was teachable!

Now, many years later, I know all the ins and outs. My friends and family often ask for help and I am knowledgeable enough to assist them. I have realized that “helping” is something I do very, very well so it just seemed natural, when I retired, to offer my expertise to other young service businesses.

This is how Fair and Square Bookkeeping was born.
